India, July 30 -- Muthoot Microfin has announced the expansion of its operations in Assam, strengthening its presence in the northeastern region.

Meanwhile, the Maharashtra state cabinet on Tuesday approved a key decision regulating the purchase of agricultural produce. As per the new directive, private traders will now require prior permission from the state government to buy agricultural products directly from farmers.

Additionally, obtaining a licence from either the marketing committee or the Director of the Marketing Department has been made mandatory for such purchases. The cabinet has also empowered the Director of Marketing to issue a Single Unified Licence, enabling traders to operate across India.
