India, Nov. 17 -- India has finalized its first-ever structured LPG import agreement with the United States, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced on Monday. Under the one-year contract, Indian PSU oil companies will import around 2.2 MTPA of LPG from the US Gulf Coast in 2026—amounting to nearly 10% of India's annual LPG imports.

The breakthrough deal follows a visit by officials from IndianOil, BPCL, and HPCL to the US from July 21–24, 2025, where they held discussions with major American producers using the Mount Belvieu benchmark. The agreement is aimed at diversifying India's LPG supply sources and strengthening long-term energy security.
