India, Jan. 27 -- India and the European Union on Tuesday announced the conclusion of the long-awaited India–EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), marking a major milestone in bilateral economic relations. The agreement was jointly announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at the 16th India–EU Summit.

The FTA, concluded after negotiations were relaunched in 2022, aims to strengthen trade, investment and strategic cooperation between the two sides, positioning India and the EU as trusted partners committed to open markets and inclusive growth.
