India, Oct. 6 -- Arunachal Pradesh marked a historic milestone on 6 October 2025 with the launch of its first commercial coal mine at the Namchik-Namphuk coal block, enhancing energy security, local employment, and regional growth. Union Minister Shri G. Kishan Reddy performed the Bhoomi Poojan, handed over the mining lease, flagged off CPPL machinery, and participated in a 100-tree plantation drive.

The Namchik-Namphuk block, with reserves of 1.5 crore tonnes, was originally allocated in 2003 but faced delays. It was revived through a transparent auction in 2022, enabling private sector participation. The mine is projected to generate over ?100 crore annually for the state, create jobs, and curb illegal mining and resource wastage.
