India, Dec. 19 -- Guar seed prices edged higher in futures trade on Friday, rising by Rs 60 to Rs 5,400 per quintal, as speculators increased their positions amid a firm trend in the spot market.

On the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), guar seed contracts for January delivery gained Rs 60, or 1.11 per cent, to trade at Rs 5,400 per quintal, with open interest standing at 61,575 lots.

Market participants attributed the price rise to increased speculative buying, firm spot market demand and limited supplies from major producing regions.
