India, Dec. 18 -- Guar gum prices advanced in futures trade on Thursday, climbing Rs 202 to Rs 9,683 per quintal, as speculators increased their positions amid strong demand in the physical market.

On the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), guar gum contracts for January delivery rose Rs 202, or 2.09 per cent, to Rs 9,683 per quintal, with an open interest of 52,300 lots.

Analysts said the firm trend in the spot market encouraged traders to raise their bets, supporting the rise in guar gum futures.
