India, Dec. 30 -- The government on Monday said it plans to borrow Rs 3.84 lakh crore through short-term treasury bills over a 12-week period during the fourth quarter of the current financial year to meet short-term funding requirements.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Finance, the weekly treasury bill auctions will range between Rs 29,000 crore and Rs 35,000 crore.

The proposed borrowing is Rs 10,000 crore lower than the Rs 3.94 lakh crore raised through treasury bills in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. Earlier, the government had announced an auction calendar of treasury bills worth Rs 2.47 lakh crore for the third quarter of the current financial year ending December 31, 2025.
