India, Nov. 21 -- India's foreign exchange reserves surged by USD 5.543 billion to USD 692.576 billion for the week ended November 14, driven largely by a sharp increase in the value of gold holdings, according to RBI data released on Friday.

This follows a decline of USD 2.699 billion in the previous week, when reserves had fallen to USD 687.034 billion.

Foreign currency assets, the largest component of the reserves, rose by USD 152 million to USD 562.29 billion during the reporting week.
