India, July 24 -- Crude oil prices moved higher on Thursday, gaining Rs 45 to reach Rs 5,700 per barrel in futures trading, as participants boosted their positions amid firm demand in the spot market.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), crude oil contracts for August delivery rose Rs 45, or 0.8%, to Rs 5,700 per barrel, with a trading volume of 11,564 lots.

Analysts attributed the price increase to renewed buying interest and higher bets placed by traders, supporting crude oil prices in the futures segment.
