India, Sept. 8 -- Crude oil prices surged Rs 89 to Rs 5,523 per barrel in futures trade on Monday, supported by fresh positions from traders.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, October delivery crude gained 1.64 per cent to Rs 5,523 per barrel, with 4,234 lots traded.

Analysts said the rise came after WTI snapped a three-day losing streak, as OPEC+ over the weekend agreed to increase output at a slower pace from October amid expectations of weaker global demand.
