India, April 21 -- Copper prices edged up by 0.59% to Rs 853.85 per kilogram in Monday's futures trade, as traders built fresh positions amid a positive trend in the spot market.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), copper for May delivery gained Rs 5.05 or 0.59% to trade at Rs 853.85 per kg in 2,268 lots.

Analysts attributed the price rise to renewed buying interest from traders, driven by sustained demand from consuming industries.
