India, Dec. 30 -- Copper futures rose sharply on Tuesday, climbing 4.44 per cent to Rs 1,287.30 per kilogram, supported by higher demand in the spot market.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), copper contracts for January delivery advanced by Rs 54.70, or 4.44 per cent, to Rs 1,287.30 per kg, with a business turnover of 12,668 lots.
Analysts said the surge in copper prices was driven by increased participation and fresh buying by traders amid improved spot demand.
