India, Jan. 2 -- Copper prices rose nearly 1 per cent in futures trade on Friday, tracking strong global cues amid ongoing supply-side concerns.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), copper futures for January delivery advanced Rs 12.05, or 0.93 per cent, to Rs 1,304.55 per kg, with a trading volume of 13,816 lots.

The February contract also moved higher, gaining Rs 11.20, or 0.85 per cent, to Rs 1,322.45 per kg, in a turnover of 4,392 lots.

Market participants said prices were supported by firm international markets and concerns over tight global supply, which continued to underpin copper futures.
