India, Nov. 10 -- The Department of Consumer Affairs has proposed amendments to the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011, making it mandatory for e-commerce platforms to include a searchable and sortable 'Country of Origin' filter for packaged goods sold online.

The move aims to enhance consumer transparency and empower buyers to make informed choices by easily identifying product origins. It also aligns with the government's 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' and 'Vocal for Local' initiatives, ensuring greater visibility for Indian-made products.
