India, Dec. 12 -- The Union Government has released Rs 717.17 crore to Rural Local Bodies (RLBs) in Maharashtra as the first instalment of Untied Grants under the XV Finance Commission for FY 2025–26. The funds have been disbursed to duly elected and eligible bodies, covering 2 Zilla Parishads, 15 Panchayat Samitis, and 26,544 Gram Panchayats across the state.
The Ministry of Panchayati Raj and the Ministry of Jal Shakti recommend the release of these grants to states, which are then issued by the Ministry of Finance in two instalments each financial year.
