India, Oct. 1 -- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the widening and improvement of the Kalibor–Numaligarh section of NH-715 in Assam to a four-lane highway at a total cost of Rs 6,957 crore.

The 85.67 km project will be executed on the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode and includes a 34.5 km elevated corridor through the Kaziranga National Park to ensure free passage of wildlife. It also provides for two greenfield bypasses—11.5 km at Jakhalabandha and 9.5 km at Bokakhat—along with the upgradation of 30.22 km of existing road.
