India, Nov. 26 -- The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved Phase-2 expansion of the Pune Metro Rail Project, giving the green light to Line 4 (Kharadi–Hadapsar–Swargate–Khadakwasla) and Line 4A (Nal Stop–Warje–Manik Baug). This marks the second major approval under Phase-2, following sanctions for Lines 2A and 2B.

Together, Lines 4 and 4A will span 31.636 km with 28 elevated stations, connecting key IT hubs, commercial areas, educational institutions, and residential pockets across East, South, and West Pune. The project, estimated at ?9,857.85 crore, will be completed in five years and co-funded by the Centre, Maharashtra Government, and external funding agencies.
