India, Aug. 12 -- The Union Cabinet has approved the establishment of four semiconductor manufacturing plants in Odisha, Punjab, and Andhra Pradesh, Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on Tuesday.

These projects, involving a total investment of Rs 4,594 crore, have been sanctioned under the India Semiconductor Mission, which has a Rs 76,000 crore outlay to provide financial support for setting up chip facilities in the country.

"Cabinet has approved four semiconductor plants to be set up in Odisha, Punjab, and Andhra Pradesh," Vaishnaw said.
