India, Aug. 19 -- The Union Cabinet on Tuesday approved the setting up of a new greenfield airport at Kota-Bundi in Rajasthan at an estimated cost of Rs 1,507 crore.

Planned for completion within two years, the airport will have the capacity to handle 2 million passengers annually. The Rajasthan government has allocated 1,089 acres (around 440 hectares) of land free of cost for the project.

Briefing reporters after the Cabinet meeting, Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the project will be financed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) through its internal resources.
