India, Aug. 13 -- The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved Phase-1B of the Lucknow Metro Rail Project in Uttar Pradesh. The new 11.165 km corridor will feature 12 stations—seven underground and five elevated—and will expand the city's operational metro network to 34 km.

Enhanced Connectivity: Phase-1B will serve some of Old Lucknow's most densely populated and commercially vibrant areas, including Aminabad, Yahiyaganj, Pandeyganj, and Chowk. It will also connect major healthcare institutions like King George's Medical University, tourist landmarks such as Bara Imambara, Chota Imambara, Bhool Bhulaiya, Clock Tower, and Rumi Darwaza, and popular culinary destinations.
