India, Nov. 7 -- India's automobile retail sales surged 21% year-on-year to an all-time high of 52.38 lakh units during the 42-day festive season, driven by robust demand for passenger vehicles and two-wheelers, the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) said on Friday.

According to FADA, the sharp increase was supported by strong festive sentiment and lower vehicle prices following the recent GST adjustments across segments.

Total retail sales rose to 52,38,401 units this festive season, up from 43,25,632 units in the same period last year.
