Wheat and flour prices have surged again in Punjab, causing concern for both consumers and officials. The price of wheat in the open market has reached Rs3,100 per 40kg. This marks a sharp rise of Rs700 per 40kg in just 15 days, according to the Flour Mills Association.
In response, the Punjab government has decided to release official wheat supplies into the market. Officials hope this step will help stabilize prices. The government plans to offer wheat at a controlled rate of Rs2,900 per 40kg. The Food Department said market intervention is necessary to avoid further price hikes.
