Pakistan, July 9 -- Western Europe experienced its hottest June on record this year, with extreme heatwaves pushing temperatures above 40degC in several countries, according to the EU climate monitor Copernicus. The heatwaves, occurring from June 17-22 and again from June 30-July 2, brought unusually high temperatures across Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, and the Balkans, triggering severe heat stress and environmental risks.
Globally, June 2025 ranked as the third warmest ever recorded, continuing a troubling trend of rising temperatures driven by human-caused greenhouse gas emissions.
