Pakistan, Jan. 14 -- The United States has urged its citizens to leave Iran immediately, the US virtual embassy in Tehran said on Tuesday. Americans were advised to consider departing by land to Turkiye or Armenia if it is safe to do so.

The warning comes as Iran experiences its largest anti-government protests in years, sparked by economic hardship and political unrest. The unrest has already resulted in thousands of casualties, according to rights groups.
