Pakistan, June 27 -- Nearly 200 countries agreed on Thursday to increase the United Nations climate body's budget by 10% for the next two years, signaling a strong commitment to tackling climate change. The decision was made during UN climate talks held in Bonn.

The agreement sets the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) core budget at 81.5 million euros for 2026-2027, up from the previous 2024-2025 budget. This rise comes despite cuts in funding for other UN agencies, partly due to the US reducing its contributions.
