Pakistan, June 25 -- In a major military move, the United Kingdom has announced plans to purchase 12 F-35A fighter jets capable of carrying tactical nuclear weapons. The jets, made by Lockheed Martin, will allow the British air force to deliver nuclear weapons for the first time since the Cold War, Downing Street confirmed on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the decision comes during a time of "radical uncertainty" and growing threats, particularly from Russia. He added that the UK can no longer take peace for granted.
