Pakistan, May 20 -- The Pakistan Steel Melters Association has proposed to the Ministry of Finance to impose a fixed sales tax in the steel sector based on the units of electricity consumed. This, they argue, will not only lead to a significant increase in collection but will also identify electricity and tax-evading furnaces.
The Chairman of the Association, Mian Ahmed Hassan, demanded that the government bring scrap dealers into the tax net to prevent flying invoices in the steel industry.
