Pakistan, June 18 -- The Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company (SECMC) has achieved a significant safety goal at its Thar desert mining operation, recording 15 million work hours without a major injury. The Thar coal mining project is a key public-private partnership under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), involving the Sindh Government, major Pakistani firms like Engro Energy and HUBCO, and Chinese technical partners, Gwadar Pro reported. Operating in Thar Coal Block II, the open-pit mine produces 7.6 million tons of local lignite coal annually.
