Pakistan, July 9 -- The death toll from the devastating July Fourth flash floods in central Texas has risen to at least 109, with more than 180 people still missing. Search and rescue teams are tirelessly working through thick mud and debris across the Texas Hill Country, particularly in Kerr County, where the disaster hit hardest.
Governor Greg Abbott revealed that Kerrville, a small town of 25,000, saw the greatest loss. As of Tuesday, 94 bodies had been recovered in Kerr County alone, including 27 campers and staff from Camp Mystic, a historic all-girls summer camp. The camp director also lost her life, and several children remain unaccounted for.
