Pakistan, July 12 -- The spillways of Terbela Dam have been opened due to a sharp rise in water levels. This step was taken to release extra water from the reservoir. According to Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the move is essential to prevent overflow and protect the dam's structure. The opening follows heavy monsoon rains that increased inflow into the dam. Water levels are now approaching the maximum safe limit.

As a result, the flow in the Indus River is expected to increase significantly. PDMA has warned that water discharge may rise between 260,000 to 270,000 cusecs.
