NEW DELHI, Jan. 13 -- Afghanistan's Taliban government has appointed its first senior envoy to India since returning to power in 2021. Noor Ahmad Noor assumed the role of charge d'affaires at the Taliban's embassy in Delhi, marking a step toward deeper engagement with New Delhi.

India has not officially recognised the Taliban government, but the move signals growing diplomatic contacts. The Afghan embassy said both sides emphasised strengthening Afghanistan-India relations, and Noor has already met senior Indian officials, including Anand Prakash.
