Pakistan, July 7 -- Sweden has resumed its visa services in Islamabad, the Foreign Office announced on Monday. Starting July 7, 2025, Pakistani nationals can apply for Schengen visas locally to visit Sweden for up to 90 days. This step ends a two-year halt that began in April 2023 when Sweden closed its embassy in Islamabad over security concerns.
The embassy had fully reopened earlier this year in April. However, visa services only restarted after recent talks between the Swedish and Pakistani foreign ministries. These bilateral discussions took place in Stockholm on July 2. During the meeting, Sweden confirmed its decision to resume visa processing in Pakistan.
