Pakistan, Dec. 6 -- Sri Lanka announced a $33,000 aid package to help survivors rebuild homes after Cyclone Ditwah. The cyclone has killed 607 people, 214 remain missing, and over two million residents have been affected. Authorities warned that heavy rain, flooding, and landslides may continue.
The government will provide up to 10 million rupees ($33,000) per family to purchase safer land and reconstruct homes. Families of those killed or permanently disabled will receive one million rupees each. More than 71,000 homes were damaged, with nearly 5,000 completely destroyed.
