Pakistan, July 7 -- A Seoul court will hold a key hearing on July 9 to decide whether former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol should be detained. The move follows a request from special prosecutors investigating his alleged abuse of power and obstruction of justice.

Yoon faces accusations of using his presidential security team to block law enforcement from arresting him earlier this year. Authorities eventually detained him in January, but he was released 52 days later due to technical reasons.

The investigation intensified after President Lee Jae Myung took office in June. Prosecutors reopened Yoon's martial law case and are now pursuing additional charges tied to insurrection and misconduct during his presidency.
