Pakistan, Feb. 11 -- Solar power users across Pakistan face a major financial setback after NEPRA introduced the new Net Billing Regulations 2026, significantly reducing earnings from selling surplus electricity to the national grid.

Under the updated rules, existing solar consumers will continue receiving Rs25.32 per unit, while new users will earn only Rs8.13 per unit, reflecting a sharp cut of Rs17.19 per unit.

Moreover, NEPRA ended the earlier net metering system, meaning exported solar units will no longer offset imported units, and all grid electricity will now be charged strictly under official tariffs.
