Pakistan, Oct. 20 -- Lahore has again been named among the world's most polluted cities, ranked second this week with the Air Quality Index crossing 210 and entering the "very unhealthy" range. The blanket of haze that covers the town every winter is not an act of nature. It is the direct outcome of institutional neglect and misplaced priorities that have turned an environmental emergency into a national embarrassment. International studies now estimate that the average Lahori may lose seven years of life expectancy because of chronic exposure to toxins.
