Pakistan, July 25 -- In a shocking incident, a six-year-old girl was raped and murdered in Shah Jamal, reportedly after being lured into a sugarcane field.

According to police, the accused sexually assaulted the minor and then suffocated her by placing his hand over her mouth. The child's body was later recovered and shifted to a hospital for post-mortem examination.

On the directions of District Police Officer Dr Mohammad Rizwan, the Station House Officer of Shah Jamal Police Station arrested the accused within hours. The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, has confessed to the crime, police said.
