Sindh authorities are bracing for major flooding as more than 1.6 million people across 1,657 villages face risk from rising waters expected to enter the province in early September.

Senior minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said the administration has activated relief operations, setting up 551 camps and deploying 192 rescue boats, while ministers and officials remain present in vulnerable districts.

He explained that high water discharges are being recorded at Guddu, Sukkur, and Kotri barrages, though their current levels remain below danger limits. However, further rains could worsen conditions significantly.
