Pakistan, Oct. 14 -- The Senate procurement review raised serious concerns over foreign-funded transport and energy projects in Sindh and Punjab. Senator Saifullah Abro led the committee meeting, reviewing projects financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and World Bank. Officials reported mis-procurement, delays, and incomplete documentation from local companies.

The committee expressed alarm over ADB-financed CAREC tranches I, II, and III covering the Rajanpur-Dera Ghazi Khan-Dera Ismail Khan corridor. Senator Abro called it "one of the most significant procurement controversies in recent years." He demanded immediate corrective action and accountability for responsible officials.
