Pakistan, Jan. 3 -- Saudi Arabia announced it will host a conference on Yemen's southern issue. The decision followed an appeal from Yemeni Presidential Council chief Rashad Al-Alimi. The aim is to unite southern factions and seek lasting political solutions.

The conference will provide a platform for dialogue among all southern groups. Riyadh said discussions should address the southern cause within Yemen's broader political process. Officials stressed that dialogue remains the only viable path forward.
