Pakistan, Dec. 8 -- The Kremlin on Sunday praised US President Donald Trump's new national security strategy, marking one of the first times Moscow has openly supported such a policy document from Washington. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the strategy largely aligned with Russia's own perceptions and priorities.

Trump's strategy describes his approach as "flexible realism" and calls for a revival of the 19th century Monroe Doctrine, framing the Western Hemisphere as the United States' sphere of influence.
