Pakistan, Nov. 1 -- KYIV - A Russian attack overnight caused a fire at a Ukrainian gas production site in the Poltava region, Ukraine's emergency services reported on Saturday. The blaze broke out around midnight and was contained after several hours of firefighting.

The strike is part of a broader campaign targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure. State energy company Naftogaz confirmed that gas facilities have been attacked at least eight times since October, affecting production and supply in several regions.

Russian forces have intensified strikes on Ukraine's energy sector in recent months. Officials say these attacks aim to disrupt heating, electricity, and industrial operations, especially as winter approaches.
