Pakistan, Jan. 15 -- Russian forces captured over 300 square kilometres of Ukrainian territory in the first half of January. The announcement was made by Valery Gerasimov, chief of the Russian General Staff, on Thursday. This follows Russia's claim of taking 6,640 square kilometres of Ukrainian land throughout 2025.

Gerasimov did not provide details on the specific locations or military operations involved in the recent advance. Analysts say such territorial gains, if verified, continue to escalate tensions between Moscow and Kyiv.
