Pakistan, Jan. 13 -- Pakistan Railways is once again promising change. This time, the Ministry of Railways says it wants to turn the struggling department into a profitable and financially stable organization. On paper, the reforms sound serious. The real test, however, lies in consistent delivery and safer operations.
Freight has rightly been placed at the centre of the reform plan. For decades, Pakistan Railways failed to tap its potential as a major cargo carrier. Roads took over, costs increased and railways slipped into losses.
