The spillways of Rawal Dam have been opened after water levels rose sharply due to continuous rains in Islamabad, Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon confirmed on Sunday afternoon.

Authorities took this precautionary step to prevent any overflow and ensure the safety of nearby communities. Continuous rainfall in the federal capital has significantly increased the reservoir's capacity in recent days.

Officials stated that the opening of spillways will help maintain safe water levels and reduce the risk of flooding in low-lying areas located near the Rawal Dam catchment zone.
