Lahore, June 27 -- The Punjab government has taken a big step to reduce air pollution. After private cars, motorcycles will also need fitness certificates. This new rule will help identify vehicles that pollute excessively. Motorcycles causing pollution will be checked and fined if they fail the test.

Muhammad Hassan Ahsan, Secretary of Punjab Provincial Transport Authority, said the Motor Vehicle Ordinance 1965 has been updated. Now, all motorcycles must get fitness certificates to operate legally. This change comes as pollution levels rise, and authorities want to control harmful emissions from two-wheelers too.
