Pakistan, July 8 -- The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned of heavy monsoon rains expected to lash most parts of Punjab in the next 24 hours. According to PDMA spokesperson Irfan Kathia, the monsoon system is active and likely to persist until July 10, bringing strong showers, possible urban flooding, and storm-related hazards.
The spokesperson urged citizens to stay indoors during thunderstorms and avoid taking shelter in weak or old buildings. He also advised drivers to slow down during rain, maintain safe distances, and avoid unnecessary travel, especially in low-lying areas.
In case of any emergency or flooding, residents are instructed to contact the PDMA helpline 1129, which remains active round-the-clock. ...
