Pakistan, Oct. 23 -- The Punjab Transport Department has intensified its crackdown on smoke-emitting and unfit vehicles across the province. The campaign aims to reduce rising smog levels before winter. Officials have been directed to operate around the clock and take strict action against violators. Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan said no leniency would be shown to anyone breaking environmental rules. He urged citizens to maintain their vehicles properly to support the fight against pollution.
According to the department's latest report, more than 90,000 vehicles were inspected at Vehicle Inspection and Certification System stations in Lahore this year. Around 55,000 of them met fitness standards and received official certificates. ...
