Pakistan, July 15 -- The Punjab Assembly has temporarily stopped further actions against suspended opposition members. This came after productive talks between Speaker Malik Ahmed Khan and opposition leaders. The Speaker directed the assembly secretariat and ruling party members to halt all proceedings against the suspended lawmakers until negotiations conclude.
The suspended opposition members had faced hefty fines exceeding 20 million rupees for alleged vandalism in the assembly. However, the recovery of these fines and deductions from members' salaries have now been put on hold. This pause prevents further financial penalties against the opposition during the ongoing dialogue.
