Pakistan, Oct. 6 -- The Punjab government has approved financial assistance of Rs20,000 per acre to support farmers whose crops have been damaged by recent heavy rains and flooding. The decision comes as the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued a fresh alert about possible flooding, warning of more than 150,000 cusecs of water expected to flow from India into the Chenab, Sutlej, and Ravi rivers within the next 48 hours.
Chairing a meeting in Multan, Punjab Agriculture Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo said around 2,000 teams were conducting damage assessment surveys in flood-hit areas.
